United States of America

The Focus of the Third Global Day of Repentance:  the United States of America

Four hundred years ago, as the Pilgrims were about to land in what is today the United States, they entered into the Mayflower Compact, honoring the Living God.

A key provision reads: “ Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia; do by these presents, solemnly and mutually in the Presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid….”

The United States today is facing intense physical and spiritual battles because we have not lived up to that Mayflower Compact which was based on God’s Glory, His Presence, and His Covenant.  Slavery was brought in to America only a few years after the Pilgrims landed.  Most recently, for over a hundred years, the nation has had days of prayer but no days of  national repentance.  We have  relied on our own ideas while Christianity is increasingly mocked.   Only rarely  have we honored publicly in our speeches and legislation the One with all authority in heaven and on earth, Jesus Christ.  It was His Blood that set captives free in all nations.  His miracles birthed America.  His Plan for this United States was  for us to be witnesses to others of His holiness, a beacon of Liberty and His Good News to all nations.

This third global day of repentance, focusing on the United States, on July 4,  could not be more timely.  During the 24 hours from midnight July 3rd to midnight July 5th, as you set aside time in your own time zone, begin by confessing your personal sins. [Twenty four topics for repentance can be found in our Events section on our website:  www.globalrepent.com] You may also wish — like Daniel and Nehemiah— to confess the sins of your family and your  nation.  If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9)  At that point you can exercise your own free will and sincerely repent from one or more of those sin strongholds, replacing that sin with His Word.

We are most grateful that, as of today, our Lord has raised up close to 700 participants in 26 nations to join us in this global move of repentance. And now, as we all follow the recommended steps for this Third Global Day of Repentance, our acts of repentance will increase the cleansing of the Bride in preparation for the Bridegroom’s soon return (Ephesians 5:25-27).   He calls each of us to be holy as He is holy.  Your increasingly Godly character will be a powerful witness to others.  As His Ambassador you will find, like Paul, boldness to make known the mystery of the gospel (Ephesians 6:18-20), preaching in His name repentance and remission of sins to all nations (Luke 24:47).  The joy of the Lord will be our strength as we help build His repentance remnant.

Additionally, we hope you will take time during those twenty four hours, as the Lord leads, to intercede for the United States regardless of your nationality.  July 4 is celebrated in the United States as a national holiday, celebrating our Declaration of Independence

There are three key prayer points:

1.  Pray that we will return to His Covenant, fearing God and not men. Galatians 5:1 tells us: “ Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”

2.  Pray that, through His Word, the spirit of racism will be exposed as a lie of the enemy. The solution to racism is prayer and a change of heart. through repentance. We are one human race, each one of us precious in His sight, each made in God’s eternal image. Indeed, addressing the issue of racism, Paul spoke to the men of Athens says in Acts 17: 26:“And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their reappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.”

3.  Pray that with the fullness of the Holy Spirit, recently released again at Pentecost, there would be a healing of all divisions in the Body of Christ in the United States, thereby also healing this nation He founded to proclaim His Liberty for all mankind.

Thank you for joining us. Invite others to participate. God bless you!
