Global Day of Repentance:

Israel on the Feast of Dedication

The Feast of Dedication, also known as the Feast of Lights---

December 7th to December 15th, 2023

This Feast commemorates  the liberation and deliverance of Israel in the time of the Maccabees, 165 B.C., after it had been desecrated by Seleucid/Greek King Antiochus Epiphanes.  Those pagans had stolen vessels from the temple; made it a law that the children of Israel could no longer follow the commandments of their God; and they also sacrificed swine and other abominations in the temple.   At the end of the fighting against the tyranny of the pagans, the temple was cleansed and rededicated to the Most High.  It is reported in 1 Maccabees, 4th chapter, that the oil  to fill the menorah in the cleansed temple continued burning by a miracle of God for the eight days.

Yeshua/Jesus Himself attended one such Feast of Dedication. John 10:22-30 states: "Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter.  And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon's porch.  Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, 'How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.' Jesus answered them, ' I told you, and you do not believe.  The works that I do in My Father's name, they bear witness of Me.  But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.  And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.  My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.  I and My Father are one.'"

Today, for those having repented and having entered by faith into Yeshua/Jesus' Kingdom (Matthew 4:17) our sins are covered by Yeshua's blood; the curse imposed by the rebellion and sin of Adam and Eve is broken by His blood; having repented, we will no longer perish but will be eternally with Yeshua (Luke 13:5); and God has given us the indwelling Holy Spirit.

The Most High God does not dwell in temples made with hands. (Acts 7:48-50).

Instead, our bodies now are the temple of the indwelling Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Yeshua/Jesus is the cornerstone of the new temple. (Psalm 118:22, 1 Peter 2:7).  We are the living stones. (1 Peter 2:4).  We are being built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5).

The basic message of this Feast is now to cleanse our own temples of any remnant of pagan influence, and rededicate our temples to His service, being a living sacrifice acceptable to God, which is our reasonable service (Romans 12:1).

We can celebrate during these eight days, throughout His Body in every nation,  deliverance from the pagan spirits that defiled the temple in Jerusalem and also defiled our own bodies before we repented, converted (Acts 3:19), and found our calling in Christ (John 15:16).  That calling helps us to love one another (John 15:17).

As we take time during this Feast of Dedication to continue to cleanse, to confess any residue of our old sins, replacing those old sin patterns with the washing by  the living Holy Spirit by His Word,  we each grow in Christ, perfecting holiness in the reverential fear of God (2 Corinthians 7:1).
We also are being cleansed, sanctified, by Christ Himself. He will present His church to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, holy and without blemish ( Ephesians 5:27).  We are cleansing as His Bride; He is the soon-coming Bridegroom.  We need to be wise, to have  "oil" --the Holy Spirit--- in our lamps before the Bridegroom comes. (Matthew 25:1-13).

At the start of the Feast of Dedication, on December 7th, 2023 we will hold a Global Day of Repentance, during a prayer/zoom calls.

During this call we will be inviting believers in Yeshua in every nation, including Israel, to take times, several minutes in private, with the help of the Teacher, the Holy Spirit, to confess old sin patterns.  We will also take time in private to confess the sins of our nations, including  Israelis who will be praying for Israel.

As sins of a nation are confessed, we will declare a renewed Covenant between that nation and Almighty God, to follow His eternal Word. There is no judgment in Christ. (John 8:15). All authority has been given to the Risen Christ in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18).

Joy Follows Repentance

The joy of the Lord is our strength. (Nehemiah 8:10). After such times privately with the Holy Spirit, anyone wishing to share what they have repented of, or anyone having a Declaration on his or her heart, will be encouraged to share.

In the process the Bride of Christ will be that much more cleansed; that much more ready for the soon-coming Bridegroom.

The ISRAEL of Today is a Fighter

The Living God of Abraham and Isaac named Jacob “Israel.”  As Jacob was wrestling with God,  the Lord said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” (Genesis 32:28).   Israel, despite his sins, was commended by God as a fighter who prevails.  Modern day Israel today is  a fighter, surrounded by enemies, prevailing. God’s blessing continues! He “keeps” Israel,  and us, not allowing our foot to be moved, neither slumbering nor sleeping,  preserving us from all evil, preserving our soul, ”from this time forth and forevermore.” (Psalm 121:3-8)

As we take time to repent on these global days of repentance the Holy Spirit is strengthened in each of us.  His Word replaces old sin strongholds, cleansing us.  We learn the unique calling the Lord has for each of us to advance His Kingdom in these end times. We become more like Jacob, one who struggles with God and men and  prevails.

The Living God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, in the Lord’s perfect timing, in fulfillment of Scriptures, blessed all humanity with Yeshua’s birth in Bethlehem.  His first Word as He preached (Matthew 4:17) was “Repent; for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” He now as the Risen Christ calls us to cleanse as His Bride (Ephesians 5: 25-27) and to be zealous to repent, to dine with Him, to  become overcomers to sit with Him on His throne as He overcame and sat on His Abba Father’s throne. (Revelation 3:19-21).

Israel is unique among nations, the apple of His eye. Yes, God’s heart and strategy touches all nations. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have life everlasting!” (John 3:16).  At the same time, YHVH proclaims that He has a special strategic priority and heart for the Jewish people. They are His firstborn nation: “Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says YHVH, “Israel is My son, My firstborn” (Exodus 4:22).

This firstborn status is explained in the Bible (Deuteronomy 21:15-18; Romans 1:16; 9:1-5; 11:28-29) as being a continuing priority in the outworking of God’s kingdom. Though all are created by Him – red and yellow, black and white – God draws a redemptive plumb line through mankind: on one side are the Jewish people, and on the other are all the nations (the Gentiles). Replacement theology and the spirit of anti-semitism has sought to hide this Truth.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Ask Yahweh to reveal His heart of love for the Jewish people

One prayer point for intercessors focusing on Israel this December 7th to 15th is to pray for God’s revelation to be given to believers worldwide regarding God’s unswerving heart for Israel.

2. Ask Yahweh to pour out His Spirit upon the Jewish people

Another prayer point is for YHVH to pour His Spirit out on the Jewish people, including His heart and strategy for His people Israel, including Yeshua as Messiah.  This is extremely timely given the threats Israel faces today: threats of war from nations all around Israel; a resurgent COVID19 crisis; a possible  two-State solution  contrary to YHVH’s plan, if portions of the West Bank are declared sovereign Israeli territory.

3. Focus prayers of mourning for what Israel has endured recently

As we all know, on the early hours of Saturday Morning October 7th, 2023 Hamas attacked Israel and killed over a 1,200 people that morning, and took over 240 people hostage. And they are using these hostages to “bargain“ for the release of Palestinian poisoners contained in Israel jails. Hamas is consistently attacking Israel out of Gaza since then, and the various cease fire agreements aren’t honored by them, still sending off rockets into Israel. And many countries in the rest of the world are also against Israel for retaliating, and fighting back, going into Gaza, to try and free those that have been taken captive by Hamas.

Even the cease fire recently have been dishonored, and on December 2nd it has all been abandoned, and rockets are being set off from Gaza again into Israel. And all negotiations have been abandoned, with Mossad returning home from Qatar.

4. Repent of our own anti-semistism -- as Gentiles -- toward God's chosen people

What better time for you and me to confess our own or our nations’  sins of anti-semitism and to repent of our anti-semitism?  What  better time after repentance, as your Holy Spirit soars, to intercede to bring Yeshua’s  Hope and Life into Jewish minds and hearts?

Yeshua/Jesus Himself, died on the cross, to bring this enmity to an end, and making out of the 2, one new man - as the Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:13-18

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;  And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:  And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

5. Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and  for the Lord to protect the people and the nation of Israel from enemy attacks and war during this time of crisis.

6. Pray that, during this time of crisis, Israelis and Palestinians alike, would all seek the LORD

Pray that both Israelis and Palestinians would seek the Lord and His help during this time of war, vulnerability, stress and turmoil.

7. Pray for ALL Hostages to be released and to return home safely with their families

Thus far 81 hostages has been released out of 240. We are thankful towards God for making this release possible. But we are continuing to pray and stand in the gap for the life of each and every hostage. That not one will die or be tortured or killed by Hamas..!!

8. Pray for all of Hamas, Islam, and all of Palestine to come to Christ Jesus as their Savior and Deliverer, and for all Palestinian Christians to be rescued and saved from an almost certain death, being caught between Hamas & Israel fighters.

God is already moving in the Midst of the Hamas fighter camps to also save lives in miraculous ways of Hamas fighters and also innocent lives of civilians and children… with many testimonies coming through already of how members of Hamas have found Jesus, and changed their ways, and came unto Repentance and Fully Converted to the Christian Faith. Keep them all in your prayers also, as they all need Jesus just as the rest of the World and Israel needs Him.

And also keep the Palestinian Christians in your prayers too who are hiding from Hamas in Churches in the Northern Half of Palestine and are facing persecution and torturing as well as being killed/murdered, should they move with the rest of the Palestinians towards the South, as was ordered by Israel. But if they choose to stay in the Northern parts of Palestine & Gaza, they are also facing the possibility of being killed by Israel Rockets being fired into Gaza, and thus needs to be rescued urgently from an almost certain death.

9. Pray for the Bride of Christ to Cleanse herself, and to come back into her rightful place of Humbleness and Submission before her Lord, through Repentance, through the washing by the Water of the Word - Eph 5

Eph 5:25-27   …. as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it;  That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That He might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Isa 59:1

Behold, the Lords hand is not shortened, That it cannot save;

Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear.

That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies.... (Joshua 7:12).

Battle commanders want to know the vulnerabilities of their enemies. Companies want to know the vulnerabilities of their competition. We also need to know our spiritual vulnerability.

This is the message God told Joshua when he attempted to go against a small army at Ai, which was the Israelites' second battle in the Promised Land. Sometimes we try to figure out why we are not successful in an endeavor from the natural only. We look at all aspects of our performance to see what went wrong. Perhaps our strategy was flawed or our timing was off or our pricing was wrong. For the people of Israel, it was not easily seen on the surface. Everything seemed just as it should be from Joshua's vantage point, so when his army was soundly defeated, he cried out to God, "Ah, Sovereign Lord, why did You ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us?" (Josh. 7:7a).

The people had been defeated because God could not bless them. One person had violated the covenant with God. They were not to take any possessions from the first battle, but one person failed to be obedient and the whole army suffered.

Sin makes our armor vulnerable to attack from Satan, who then gains permission from God to attack us in the area where we have failed to uphold righteousness. If we break down in moral purity, Satan comes in and establishes a stronghold. If we give place to bitterness and unwillingness to forgive, we will break fellowship with God and others. If we become money-focused, we will fall into greed and deception. It is a vicious cycle.

Examine your armor today.

Make sure you are not susceptible to attack.

Begin from a solid spiritual foundation and your chances of success will be great.

Colossians 2:8-9

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?

New King James Version

Colossians 2:8 reads, ". . . according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world . . .." A corresponding phrase in Galatians 4:9 reads, ". . . the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage . . .." Many in this world claim that these phrases describe the law of God. However, their claim is not true at all.

Can we imagine an apostle of God calling the Old Testament "weak and beggarly"? It is ridiculous even to think that. Instead, the apostle Paul is appealing to his readers with all of his heart to recognize and turn away from something so wrong that it could only have come from the mind of Satan.

Daniel 2 contains a vision of a great statue, an idol Nebuchadnezzar dreamed about. It had a head of gold, the shoulders and upper body of silver, the belly and thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and feet of iron and clay. We understand that, as a whole, it represents the system the Bible calls "Babylon," which has spread worldwide. These great empires—seen in the various body parts and metals—have spread Babylonish thinking, organization, social systems, economics, education, and religions all over the earth. The golden head, Nebuchadnezzar himself, symbolized Babylon (Daniel 2:37—38). The head contains the brain, where thinking takes place. That body part dominates and directs the rest of the body.

In this vision, God is revealing that Babylonish thinking and systems spread from Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon to Medo-Persia, to Greece, to Rome, to medieval Europe, and eventually into modern nations. It is everywhere. Each culture has put its own identifiable stamp on it, so that, say, the Japanese culture, while Babylonish at its roots, has traits that make it distinctive from Chinese, Indian, Russian, European, or American culture. Their Babylonish roots provide enough similarity among them to understand and interact with one another, but they all have cultural peculiarities that make them different. It is a simple picture, but it explains a truth missing from this world's thinking.

At the very least, Daniel 2 indicates that the overarching philosophies that dominate life on Earth have mainly come and spread from Babylon. However, Paul's phrases in Colossians 2:8 and Galatians 4:9 show that a taproot goes even deeper than Babylon.

In William Barclay's commentary, The Letters to the Philippians, Colossians, and Thessalonians, pages 136-137, he explains the Greek word stoicheia, which has been translated as "the basic principles of the world" in Colossians 2:8 and "the weak and beggarly elements" in Galatians 4:9. He writes that the word has two basic meanings:

(a) It means literally things which are set out in a row. It is, for instance, the word for a line of soldiers. But one of its most common meanings is the letters of the alphabet, no doubt because they form a series which can be set out in a row. Because stoicheia can mean the letters of the alphabet, it can also very commonly mean elementary instruction in any subject. We still speak of learning the A B C of a subject, when we mean taking the first steps in it. It is possible that this is the meaning here. . . .

(b) Stoicheia has a second meaning. It means the elemental spirits of the world, and especially the spirits of the stars and planets. There are still people who take astrology seriously. They wear signs-of-the-zodiac charms and read newspaper columns which tell what is forecast for them in the stars. But it is almost impossible for us to realize how dominated the ancient world was by the idea of the influence of the elemental spirits and the stars. Astrology was then, as it has been said, the queen of the sciences. (Authors' emphases throughout.)

The Interpreter's Bible, volume 11, pages 191-193, commenting on Colossians 2, similarly reads:

Paul now comes to the cardinal error of this "philosophy": it teaches men to propitiate the elemental spirits of the universe instead of giving their allegiance to Christ. The word [stoicheia] has a very wide range of meaning . . .. The word may be taken (a) in the sense of "the elementary things," the "A B C's" . . .. [Or it] (b) indicates that Paul is here speaking of the stoicheia as rivals of Christ, objects of human allegiance who are set in the place that belongs to him alone. . . . The doctrine which Paul combats, then, appears to involve (a) an exposition of the nature of the physical world and man's place within it in terms of astrological determinism; and (b) instruction in the cult practices (asceticism, taboos, angel worship) which will propitiate these astral spirits and enable the devotee to attain fullness of life.

The apostle Paul is warning God's people that human reason aided by demonic inspiration—elemental spirits—is the source of the philosophies that undergird our societies. If one is searching for truth about life and its purpose, that philosophy is not the place to look for it. The fullness of truth is to be found in Jesus Christ.

As Interpreter's says, the particular philosophy in view in Colossians 2 is that things are astrologically determined. What is the result of believing this? If a person's nature and destiny are determined by the elements that comprise the physical world, then human personality and direction in life are not spiritually free and self-determining. A person simply does not have free-moral agency.

This philosophy is still alive today. Are people not still reading astrological charts? Are not New Age religions preaching that the harmonics of crystals divine the course of life? Is science not repeatedly telling us that moral choices do not determine character and personality but particular combinations of genes and hormones? This idea is still alive today. Nothing has changed!

If a person uses astrological determinism, both the senses of guilt and forgiveness vanish. Why? Because, under this philosophy, the individual is not responsible for his actions. One can say, "The stars made me do it," or even, "Satan made me do it." Human nature is very quick to grab onto this deception—or self-deception. They can blame every problem or sin on their hormones or their genes or the constellations or circumstances beyond their control. Satan wants to lead people in this very direction. He wants them to feel comfortable with their lives.

We can now see the fundamental difference between philosophy and the true religion. With philosophy, the final arbiter is human reasoning. With the true religion, the final arbiter is God's revelation.
